Manchester United wants Xavi returned

He was signed by then-Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal for £25m in 2015 from PSV Eindhoven but struggled to fit into the team despite wearing their famous No 7 shirt formerly worn by David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo.

He struggled for playing time during the first part of the 2016-17 season, starting just one Coupe de la Ligue game, before moving to French club Lyon.

Now there is strong belief he could return under a second Dutch manager, ten Hag, as they seek to replace a hole in their squad left by Ronaldo’s acrimonious exit late last year.
